Hi my Shih-Tzu is going in tomorrow morning for an umbilical hernia operation to City Vets. I was quoted £70-£100 so I think your quote was quite high. Shop around.

Do you not think that as the original post was 15 months ago that the dog has been sorted now. Or is it that you just work for City Vets?

The reason why vets recommend hernia repair is the risk of intestines and other abdominal organs may become strangulated in the hernia - which would be a more costly and severe consequence than an op to fix it.
