I wonder if any1 can give me any advice I am having to claim maternity allowance instead of statuary due to my earning not been high enough.
The form advices me to claim as early as poss from the 14th week b4 my babies (thats right babies) are due. unfortunately with this not been my first pregnancy I cant get my matb1 till 26 weeks pregnant so when I have a appointment after that date. I think I see midwife at 27 weeks.
My question is do I have to produce the MATB1 to my employer before she gives me my SMP1 needed to claim for maternity allowance.
thanks in advance

Your Employer will need the date on MATB1 to complete a SMP1, so I think you will have to wait unless your Employer is willing to complete the form based on your dates?0

Call and either talk to or leave a message for your midwife after you are 20 weeks pregnant asking for your MATB1. She should be happy to leave it for you to collect at the doctor surgery. If not make an appointment with her before and ask for it.0

if your anomaly scan is after 20weeks then you can get the MATB1 from the hospiyal clinic
otherwise ring your midwife and she can arrange to meet you0 -
Because its my second pregnancy was told can't get it till after 26 weeks x£322.00/£3500 - CC - 26/04/110

I got my MATB1 form when i was 20 weeks with 2nd pregnancy, can't see no reason why you would have to wait till your 26 weeks.
As for maternity Allowance, your employer does need it before you send it off to claim Maternity Allowance as even though you will not get SMP, you will still be on maternity from work and still have same rights as if they were paying SMP.Extra earning 2012 From Surveys Etc

sddk1985 - that's rubbish (speaking as a midwife) you may not have another appointment until you are 26 weeks due to it not being your first child, but a MATB1 can be issued anytime after 20 weeks - if it comes to it then ring the local hospital you are booked into, say you need a MATB1 and can't make appointment with the community midwife and as long as you take your notes in with you they'll do it - there may be a wait till they hunt one down though, ours are locked in the controlled drugs cupboard as so rare we get asked for them0

Hello,
