I'm off to Barclays in the morning to "discuss" the whereabouts of the deeds to my parents house, which they've been paying £18 a year for them to keep safely, but which Barclays can't find.

Just a quick update.
Went into the bank last week to ask for the return of the Safe Wallet.
Went back on Monday to be told they couldn't find them, and was given a number to call 'The Deceased Department' so WE could chase them up!
Called the Deceased Department and was told they couldn't find them, so to go into the branch with the death certificates and Grant Of Probate.
Tuesday went into the branch with documentation and was told noone was available to deal with it, make an appointment.
Wednesday, arrived for the appointment, person we saw picked up the phone and called The Deceased Department, who couldn't find the wallet.
Was told to write a letter so they could begin an investigation..............
Watch this space!
If and when I get my hands on the deeds, I'll probably stick them in a biscuit tin under the bed.
At least I'll know where to find them.0 -
If and when I get my hands on the deeds.....
No, when you get your hands on the deeds, or receive adequate compensation for your loss, a return of all the monies paid for their safe keeping, plus interest.
(Just a thought on what that letter might contain by way of motivational input.)0
