British Gas make me want to scream!!!!

Hello, hope someone can advise me on what to do with this, I am so annoyed.
Moved into my current address 09 2009 and have always used British Gas.When I first moved in I paid in full quarterly.I then made probably the worst decision I could have to switch to monthly direct debit. This took almost 3 months to set up as tehy kept getting the details and payments wrong, eventually they started taking £103 for Gas(due to the bill running up in the 3 months they were messing up the direct debit, which just happened to be over the really cold winter period) and £45 a month for electric. They said they would take this on the 14th of each month. On the first month this is exactly what they did do. Then after that the amounts were taken on 4th, 16th, 8th,10th-basically whenever they felt like it.
I was pretty annoyed about this because I never knew when they were taking money but then 2 months ago they put the direct debit up without telling me to £114 and £51 respectively, tried to take on the 2nd, before I had even been paid :mad: despite only having taken a payment 2 weeks earlier :mad: so they direct debit was returned, and I got bank charges. I phoned Britich Gas immediately, who told me they would set up a new direct debit for £103 and £51 respectively that was due to go out on the 11th of April. On the 14th April, I phoned my bank to see if they had took these amounts. Was informed they had not-and what is more there was only one active direct debit on the account for British Gas for £45??? which I presume is the electric.
Phoned British Gas pretty annoyed as now ANOTHER month has passed where they have refused to take payment so my account balance is building up, and I am informed that after I had set up the direct debit, no notes were left on my account and it was then passed to an offshore arm of the business who cancelled the direct debit. No explanation of this!!!!
Demanded to speak to complaints, who gave me no further answers, told me they would set up direct debit for gas as £114 a month and then when they tried to set up for electric and cancel the old one the system would not let them do it! Plus they had applied to my bank on the 31st March for payment on the electric and despite there being ample funds to cover this, nothing had happened-the bank state it has not been requested and British Gas cant explain why they went to collect so early, nor why nothing has progressed with this payment :mad:
I then get a phone call last night at 8pm informing me they have set up a direct debit for electric at £66 a month-NOT HAPPY, this was not agreed and is quite a bit over what I should have been paying and have been trying to pay for months!!!!:mad:
Sorry for the long post but I just want to pay my bill on the same date every month-and be allowed to pay-ANY ADVICE on how to deal with this greatly appreciated.

Anyone? Can I also just add that this has negatively impacted my credit file, which will need to be sorted, and have just had a phone call left a message on the school run, saying its my banks fault!! Yet every other DD on my account leaves every single month with no problems whatsoever!0
