I was going to open one next month so I guess I'm one of them ;)

Never mind though, it was a good rate but it's not the end of the world by any means. I will probably still open an account with them but will now consider other options as well.

I missed out too. 'You snooze, you lose' springs to mind. With interest rates just going up I really didn't expect this move from Ipswich. I had the forms all ready to apply for this and they were just gathering dust. Never mind.

Now I have a question, on their website, regarding this saving account, it says "Unless otherwise notified, your Target Saver account will remain open, so if you wish to, you can continue with your regular saving on the same terms for a further year."
Does it mean I will get the same interest rate next year if they don't reduce the rate for the Issue I?

yes but the balance will start again at nil, with this years savings transferred to the premier 30 account

Ok, i opened an issue 1 last week and even got my book yesterday.
Looking it however, it just says "Target Saver". It doesn't specify which issue.
Can someone out there who also has a Target Saver (Issue 1) confirm theirs does not state 'Issue 1' on it.

My passbook also has 'Target Saver' printed next to my account number. You definitely have issue 1 at 8.25%.

As of 01/12/06 Target Saver 1 now 8.35% (only 0.10% rise but who's complaining?)

    Combined with the new Target Saver 2 that's a theoretical £500 per month at a Gross 7.80% (8.35% + 7.25% divided by 2).

    Well spotted Afahmaep!
I wonder why they felt the need to do that when it can't attract any new savers?
    Well done Ipswich.
