It's a pull up & lock type handle, except it won't let me pull it up to lock, if this makes any sense! Any suggestions pls?
It's great in here!

I know this may seem obvious but is there anything caught in the door handle? or on the door trim causing the door to not shut properly?:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0

Door will close, but just can't pull up the handle to then turn the lock?? ???
Thanks if anyone has a solutionIt's great in here!0 -
It could be that the lock is slightly out of line, i have a pull up handle one and this happened to me. If the locks are out of line it wont fit in the hole when you pull the handle up.
But i dont know how to fix it as i had my builder in at the time and he fixed it. Sorry couldnt be more help on that.0 -
Right, I finally feel I can contribute to this website as I know the answer ;D
At the base of the patio doors there will be a groove type metal mechanism that the lock bolts into. In this mechanism there should be a screw?? Loosen this a bit, so that you can fully extend the mechanism e.g move it slightly further left if your door closes to the left/slightly further right if it closes to the right!! When you've moved it as far as possible, tighten the screw & voila!!!!! Your door will lock.
Learned this after bitter personal experience mixed with plenty of swearing thinking that I needed to replace my doors/locks! Worked for me, so Good Luck!0 -
Jocjthearab took the words right outta my mouth. This is what I had to do with mine. If the handle then goes up but the key sticks when turning I suggest you "pump" the handle up and down while turning the key. Sounds odd but it's what I have to do!Regards

Yeah, and remember that the lock is likely to "bolt" in 4-6 places, and each needs to be in line, or nothing will work.
My top bolt was bent a little, and needed adjusting,Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

Ah yes :-[ they were more helpful suggestions than mine. Its only when I couldn't pull the handle up to lock our back door, I actually realised that the altough the door appeared closed, the trim wasn't allowing it to close properly, which in turn meant the door handle couldn't be pulled up to allow the door to lock.
there are some things I should just stay out of!!!!
