That will be for one person, although you can get many people in the same basket (depends on how big the balloon is - 6/8/10).
So you can arrange to go at the same time.

It might sound like a lot but everything considered they won't be making a fortune.
There are needs of insurance, 4x4s etc.
The work for the pilots is casual with very little over the winter.
One flight will be about 9 hours for them including travelling and refuelling and that doesn't include all the pre-flight planning for the flights that don't go ahead.
They will need to pay a driver and a few crew as well as admin staff.
Not that well paid to be honest.

The RRP for this on the virgin website is as stated on Groupon - £198, so this would make this a good deal - am I correct? My mum went in a balloon on a previous offer which was the adventure package for £149 from £299, looking online I can not see any difference in the package except she got a bag and sunglasses etc.
So I suppose what I am asking - is this a good deal or not?
No buying toiletries challenge - possibly for most of 2011,2012,2013,2014,2015!
    £1 in sealed pot for each UU (2011 135/500:D) 2012 have UU 130/400 (never realised I had a mini chemist under my bed!!!) :rotfl:2013 UU 156/350. 2014 UU 197/250 2015 UU 16/100

It is a good deal, yes, but I think the RRP is absolute top whack.
You can often find cheap deals from red letter days etc. so you can certainly get £99 deals fairly frequently.
But I don't think you'll find it cheaper than this.

Anyone received their booking password after emailing virgin yet?
I'm also a bit gutted to hear that other people are in the basket with you - I just assumed for some reason that it would be the 2 of us! A rather awkward situation when proposing if the other half says no!!! :D

Wins : McCains garden games set, 2xTickets to Alton Towers, Links of London friendship bracelet, 2xIdeal Home Show tickets, McFly album CD, Virgin Balloon flight for 2 with a case of ScrumpyJack cider and 2 ltd edition jackets, Powerboat racing experience, £50 Virgin voucher, Aerobie Pro flying ring & Rice Krispie squares, Tesco baby pack

  • Hi all

I booked this deal for the York racecourse site, specifically finding the deal attractive as I wanted the weekend dates. Due to limited availability have since booked a Friday off work and then had the flight cancelled by Virgin.

My problem is that they've obviously oversubscribed on this groupon voucher as there are virtually no available slots between now and the end of March 2012.

I'm now wondering whether to do battle with Groupon / Virgin for my money back. Anyone else had this problem?

    Cheers
    Craig

Unfortunately hot air balloon trips are notorious for being cancelled at short notice. This is because they are extremely weather dependent and if they aren't just the right conditions on the day, the balloon can't fly.

I think that if you've been unlucky and had one attempt cancelled, then you should be able to get the voucher extended fairly easily, because it isn't as though you haven't tried to book.
