Additional Card Holder

in Credit cards
I don't have a credit card and can't get one due to having a Trust Deed. At the moment I'm trying to organise a holiday for me and my boy for the summer. I was going to go for a caravan or campsite in North Wales but have seen some late booking deals for Tenerife for not much more. I've saved some money towards this so hopefully will be able to book something in June for a holiday at the end of July.
If we manage to get away to Tenerife or somewhere hot, it would be nice to hire a car for a couple of days whilst there. Only problem being, I don't have and wouldn't get a credit card. I had thought of asking my dad if he would be willing to add me as an additional card holder on his. I would of course give him some money up front to cover car hire so that he wasn't out of pocket or being charged interest on anything.
My question is, is it likely to be rejected due to my situation? I wouldn't want to cause him any problems and would return the card to him when we got back. I have a pre-pay master card but can't use this to hire a car. If it is likely to cause an issue, I would rather not ask in the first place, get buses and not cause any ill feeling. I'm quite happy to go to Wales or somewhere else in the UK on holiday and save for somewhere next year that's close to beaches, ammenities etc.
Thanks for any help.

As far as I am aware additional cardholders are not credit scored - certain checks for Identification and bankruptcy will be made - as long as your father agrees and he knows whatever you spend is his debt you should have no problem.0

Just added my 18 year old to my card as an authorised user so that she can book travel etc when at Uni, which we will be paying for. Card issuer made it quite clear to me that I would be responsible for any debt she ran up and card would be with me in a few days.
Just as another point, you would probably find it better to go on a couple of organised trips rather than hire a car. Weather will be very hot in July and you probably won't want to go much further than the beach/pool.
Unless you are out of the main tourist areas, a car will probably be more hassle and you will get to see more as a passenger on a coach!0 -
Thanks for that guys. Yep, you're probably right and the way to go is organised trips and pay for transfers to and from the airport. If we go, I'll try to get somewhere near a beach and that has a pool - no real need for a car then. It's all dependent on how much a holiday'll be in June when I want to book it. I really am reluctant to ask my dad about this. He knows I screwed up my finances before so wouldn't want him to be in a position to tell me no, not that that would bother me if he did.0
