Putting your life on hold...

Please explain why this statement is trotted out to define what it is to rent.
I sold my house nearly 3 years ago by pricing realistically. I did this because aspects of our life were changing, we were relocating to a new area. If anything, we were pressing play. Since then, we have opted to rent, firstly due to falling house prices and secondly to remain mobile - to make sure our life wasn't "on hold." A year after relocating there was a job change in the family and we needed to relocate again. With no house to sell we were able to relocate in less than a month.
It is apparent to me that all of those people in houses that they "can't" sell, those who are separated from partners because partners are forced to work away because their house "won't" sell, those mortgagees who can't tell their boss "I quit" tomorrow because they've decided to emigrate, travel the world or just quit for the hell of it - they're the ones who have their lives on hold.
While we don't anticipate relocating again, we remain happy in rented accommodation as per the reasons previously given. We are looking to buy a house again, but are not in a hurry. Our lives are continuing just fine.

To answer your question I believe it may be due to the idea that renting is not considered a long term solution to a persons living arrangements. You yourself plan to buy again so I guess agree that it is not a long term thing.
Dont get me wrong I believe that renting has its place, I am also not saying I entirly agree with my above statment (I believe many many factors affect renting vs buying), but simply answering the question posed as I understand it.

I've never seen the line trotted out in that context but good for you I guess :T
I'm not sure why you need to justify your choices if you're happy with your decisions in life, or are you?0 -

Nice school-girl pyschology there. It is "trotted out" frequently "in that context" on these boards. Not long ago in another thread, but if you haven't seen it then I guess it must be fiction.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I made an observation - but have obviously struck a nerve with you.
Personally I'd rather not rent again as I like to be in control of my own destiny, I'll never say never though.0 -

No motives Sherlock.
As I said, just making an observation. If you're happy renting, then good for you.
Your posts in this forum do suggest that something's gnawing away at the back of your mind though.0
