Holiday spending -card or cash?

Just noticed that Nationwide have pulled the plug on my free use of NW debit and credit card in Europe
Off the Canaries next week, and need an idea what is best way to spend over there. As going AI all spending is mainly for hire car, gifts, snacks etc, so probably only estimating £500.
is it best to still use the card, as NW do offer reasonable exchange rates or take cash?

Hint: Post in the right section.
Nationwide Credit card hasn't changed...at least not until the 31st of July for new customers..
Just use another card(such as Travelex Cash Passport Globe) for cash withdrawals..
I'm not altogether sure that anything will change for existing customers. Will look at the T&Cs for my Gold card.
Seems that they remain unchanged. It's customers who joined after the 22/02/11 who are affected.0
