Dandelions

Our lawn is more of a dandelion meadow than a lawn these days. I am interested to hear how to get them 'off' without digging them up.
I have bought the Evergreen 4 in 1 last week, and some of them (mostly outside the lawn) are looking like they are on the way out after watering the lawn on Friday night. We are going to water lawn once more tonight before cutting it on Wednesday, hopefully.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
I've been using the edge of my spade to dig down a bit and then pulling it up before replacing the grass that I dug up and treading it down. Seems to be working so far at least at the back, but dear goodness the front is not in a good place... only way I know of is weedkiller or digging them out but don't like to use the weedkiller so would also be interested in other methods!

There's a wee weed removing tool that you can buy. It's narrow and you push it down along side the weed and then twist and it comes out... I would look for it on the internet for you but I am having to go out... but it is one and it's not expensive...

Best way to get rid of them is to dig them up and get the whole root out. You could always pick the younger leaves and eat them in salad though - quite a peppery taste a bit like rocket, and free salad

So if they taste good and look nice, why not leave them in?Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Think I read somewhere that the water you cook greens in does the job if you pour it over the dandelion..............not too sure but its worth a try.
I've got loads of dandelions but at least they give a bit of colour..........just got to remember to cut the heads of before they turn to the ''clocks'' and start shedding seed everywhereI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

There does seem to be an abundance of Dandelions this year.
If they're in my lawn i use a feed and weed.
If they're in my allotment i try and get to them and dig them up before they run to seed. If i'm short of time i hoe the tops off and let them die off in the sun. I dig the roots out later when i get round to it.

Lovely British flower, live with them. Watch them grow or get a tortise (takes about the same time in either case).
