Can I just ask how the "value" column is calculated on the SS?
I can reconcile some of the calculations eg the beef joint the net cost of -48p is -6% of the Tesco price, but many others seem to be worked out as % of the Asda price eg cox's apples (buy 2) the net cost is 80p which is 25% of £3.20, not 40% as on SS.
I'm confused, could someone help?
Thanks.

basically, if the net cost is negative it's worked out as a % return on the tesco price, otherwise it's the asda price. Does that make sense?0 -
Sorry for asking really stupid questions, I'm quite new to the whole idea of using coupons (always scared they'll get rejected), but can you take a £3 of £30 shop from sainsbury's and use in on a £30 shop at Tescos?! If so, why would they allow that?!
I think you have been answered already, but just to add as to why..because they will then get £27 worth of your money for your shopping (& also of course, Sainsbury's will get nowt.:D)0 -
I agree with you there is a slight risk by transferring a voucher to another email address, rather than killing it off.
It depends on your store really, if someone is using a store that always just scans the vouchers at the till it might be worth the risk.
However if it's a store where they send people to customer service I wouldn't risk it. If they call HO and you can't prove the chain of vouchers to one email ady you could risk getting banned totally from Tesco, as one forum member did.Couldn't you just say you have forgotten? Or that you made a mistake and have two email addresses?
Plus this could only happen on change of email address.
Sorry I was shopping for my dear Nan and myself, I must of got my receipts mixed up when I submitted them, sorry!emerald_starcat wrote: »I can't lie under pressure, makes me break out in a sweat and I start to stutter.
i realise that a lot of people are worried about this.
the problem originated from one MSE member; who kindly posted their horrible experience, so that other money savers became aware of the problem.
a few points to note:
-that individual was doing 5 shops per day, 7 days a week (i'm not here to discuss about whether this is right or wrong, but i can say you are one brave and super confident person). 35 shops a week means you are far more likely to be caught out like this, even if you did spread your shops across many stores.
-using email addresses with 'patterns' for this kinda thing would be silly. for example, dtdshops1to5@...., dtdshops6to10@....etc. if are going to create email addresses, at least make them with genuine names and words, e.g. iamtheman69@....
-how many members on here had more than 1 email address before this tesco price check offer started?? i'm sure the majority did. i had 3 accounts: uni email, home email and junk email. if you are questioned about the email address not matching up, then question them: 'am i not allowed to have more than 1 email address account?'
the only time i killed off a DTD voucher was in the pre-£20 cap era; even then i forgot to add a few DTD items to generate a new £20 voucher. i have been kicking myself for that mistake.
anyway, i hope the above info. helps.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

By mistake a submitted a claim with the wrong (non-existant) email address. Is there a way of getting the voucher anyway? If I try to submit the claim again it says it's being processed.
Sorry, no time to check if someone has answered this. No problem. Once the voucher is ready, it doesn't matter which e-mail address you enter. If you think it should be ready, just use the back button and re-enter the details -- repeat, if necessary until the voucher arrives. I have a private theory that you need to enter the same e-mail address twice before the voucher appears but if you just copy it into the clipboard, that's easy.0 -

Your explanation makes sense with regard to using the spreadsheet, thanks, but I'm still confused.
Obviously I wasn't party to the reasoning behind this (not a criticism by the way I'm wholeheartedly grateful for the solid work done by the SS guys :T and I wish I had the time to help), but why was it chosen this way?
Personally I find it more confusing, as to me anyway, there are more deals giving back > 50% dtd than it would seem just looking at the SS. Obviously if one were using real money then the overall cost compared to Asda is relevant, but less so if you are printing your money as we are, and particularily if we are primarily motivated to generate more vouchers the "real" cost of an item is almost irrelevant.
Anyhoo, as I said not a criticism, I always do my sums on paper and carry it with me when I shop, but do use the SS to find new ideas. Now I know how it's calculated I know how to read it.
Thanks SS guys!!!

Morning campers!!!!
Just been to T for possibly my last visit of the week (unless I am too tempted to spend today's vouchers on the way home).I am looking forward to a break over the Easter weekend tbh!!
Hey did anyone gamble on the 1 litre of bacardi yesterday? I know some people said it shouldn't matter that its not on the Mr T website but i was still too cautious to go for it :embarasse
Thanks
It doesn't matter whether it's on Tesco's website or not, it only needs to be on ASDA's website for it to be compared! As long as you bought it in a Tesco store, they compare the price paid at the TILL to Asda's website price.

TBH I didn't decide either (I'm not sure who did!)
If the consensus is that everything be a % of Tesco price then I'll change it0
