Unassisted FTB-s are only 20% of the total FTB-s.
The average age of all FTB-s is 32.
And the average age of assisted FTB-s must be younger still.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

If the average age of an unassisted FTB is 37, what is FTBer land in your opinion?
Also, same question with regard the 32 year old average you quote.0 -

An area of terraced housing. Probably 2 bed terraces, often big properties, bit of outside space. Nice houses a lot of the time. These can be bought all over the North West for anywhere between £80,000 and £120,000, so well within reach of most FTBers here.
So this is what I'd call 'FTBer' land. The age doesn't really matter, the types of houses around me are probably the types of houses that are rarely bought by FTBers, and probably never have been. We certainly couldn't have afforded the house we were in as a FTBer, no matter what year. We bought a back to back 2-bed terrace instead.
Also, the use of the word 'unassisted' to describe a FTBer is neither here nor there. A FTBer is a FTBer, doesn't really matter whether they were assisted or not.0 -

Ok thanks. What's the average salary of the FTB?So this is what I'd call 'FTBer' land. The age doesn't really matter
Of course it does. A 37 year old is far more likely to need a family home., the types of houses around me are probably the types of houses that are rarely bought by FTBers, and probably never have been. We certainly couldn't have afforded the house we were in as a FTBer,
If you don't mind me asking, how old were you?no matter what year. We bought a back to back 2-bed terrace instead.

If the FTB age range is from 21 to 40, for arguments sake, due to assistance or otherwise (and Hamish seems to think that unassisted makes up 20% of the FTB market) then it clearly does make a difference.0 -

FTB land is 1 and 2 bed flats or terraces.
80% of FTB-s fall in this category.
The 20% of older FTB-s that are unassisted may want to buy something bigger. God knows they've had long enough to save up for it though....
Of course, having failed to buy in the 90's when houses were at all time record low salary multiples, failed to buy again in the early 2000's when prices were still low and mortgages readily available, and failed to buy again in the mid 2000's when mortgages were cheap and easily available at up to 100% LTV's...... It's hard to feel much sympathy for them.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

During a time when houses were booming quicker than people were getting payrises and able to save?HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »Of course, having failed to buy in the 90's when houses were at all time record low salary multiples, failed to buy again in the early 2000's when prices were still low and mortgages readily available, and failed to buy again in the mid 2000's when mortgages were cheap and easily available at up to 100% LTV's......
