I have done a quick search through the forum, and found some information, but am wondering if there's anything else.

More seriously, aren't there certain garden birds that specialise in ants and such. Perhaps there are things you can do to encourage them.

OK thanks for the advice! Anteater option by far the best idea so far ;)

There's ants, and there's ants. Sure they have to live somewhere, I don't disagree. But there's millions of the blighters, and with a nipper crawling (almost walking), he's gonna get covered in them.
Moving them on seems like a humane option, but the whole lawn would have to be treated, as putting powder down only moves them by a couple of metres.

And to be fair, they don't come into the house, though it's much easier to prevent that than to shout at them 'oi, gerroff my land!'

I'm off shopping tomorrow so will take a look in the gardening sections to see what they have.

    *Also wants an anteater*

The green woodpecker is one of the birds you're after. ;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Doff Antkiller powder really does kill them not just move them on.

We used to have problems with ants in our house, My Mum tried loads and loads of different products etc - the only thing that seemed to really work was these poisoned ant stations. Kept flat with a brick on to stop rain washing anything away. It was AntStop bait stations she used? She also used to use a spray... Dethlac, was it? she used to swear by the combo.
  • My OH never let's me forget the time I tried to rid our house of deluge of ants. I went to local hardware store and asked for the powder stuff to kill ants, you know the one, begins with an N , .... Yes that's it ..... Napalm:eek::eek::eek::

Would have done the trick I'm sure :rotfl::rotfl:

Mint is supposed to be good for repelling ants... but I think I'd rather have ants than mint!
