Hi
I'm currently in North America and need to buy a laptop today, as I need it for tomorrow.
I'm considering buying this one, a Compaq N610, although its a used laptop from a store in town with a 90 day warranty. He's charging me £350.
Just want to make sure this seems reasonable and that it'll be okay for the UK (once I get the plug adaptor of course).
Unfortunately I don't know too much about comps, and don't have the time to shop around (I need it tomorrow) so just want to make sure I'm not making a big mistake getting ripped off.
I looked for completed listings of this laptop on ebay in the UK and there weren't any which concerns me a little.
Have to meet the guy in an hour so any quick adice would be really really appreciated.
Ahhhh my copy and paste isn't working so cant copy the link, but its a Compaq N610 pentium 4, 2.0, 256, DVD/CD combo, with windows XP
Thanmsk

Hello! I am in Florida at the moment. have you looked at Circuit City http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/home.do?com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&ct=0&BV_UseBVCookie=No or Best Buy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/index.jsp?DCMP=KNC-TLC&ref=30&loc=BRD-ADS0001 Both have stores all over the US.
£350 seems a bit expensive to me for a laptop, as that converts to about $670 for which you could get a great brand new laptop at either shop.To Dare is To Do:beer:0 -
Thx wearside. I'm in Canada though - can't see any Bestbuys there.
Not too sure what the Canadian PCworld equivalent is0 -
Glasgowchap, you have prob met up with him by now, so advice would be redundant!
You say you can't copy and paste - try using the keyboard shortcuts;
highlight what you want to copy then press ctrl and c to copy then ctrl and v to paste it where you want it to go0 -
The price is too high especially since I once saw a IBM R50e brand new in Staples in the UK for 250 quid(probably the last one) and that a Celeron M.
The only compute shop that I know of is Tigerdirect Canada which us related to MISCO(Simply Computers) in the UK but is on-line as far as I know!!
What about Walmart,Toys R Us or Staples?? They all have stores in Canada. Walmart and Toys R Us do stock computers at times. Staples definitely does notebooks!!0 -
Thx everyone - I ended up not buying, luckily. Decided to go to one of the big stores tomorrow instead.0

Good luck in your search!
All electrical goods are far cheaper this side of the Atlantic, confirming that we are being ripped off back home!To Dare is To Do:beer:0
