What is the difference between cheap and expensive toilets etc?

Looking at new kitchens and bathrooms, I can see the difference between a £40 kitchen cupboard and a £400 one. What is the difference when it comes to bathroom fittings? What is the difference between a cheap-as-chips toilet, basin and bath, and a very expensive one? Do they last longer, clean more easily, or what?

Before buying a new bog - go to another aisle, pick up a basic toilet seat and try it on the new bog.

If it does not fit then you are forever stuck with buying expensive seats for that bog because they are not all the same size.
