Sorry....another Child Tax Credit query

I know there have been various threads about the dreaded Tax Credits, but wondered if anyone could advise about my situation. I think we've underestimated our income for 2010/2011, maybe by £1000. This is due to me now getting a Regular User Allowance , due to having to use my car for work. I don't know the exact figures yet as not had my P60 or our P11Ds.
I dud phone CTC office recently but they can't change my estimate as the renewal packs are being sent out. Our income is likely to be between £40000-41000 for 2010/2011. The lady at CTC office said that we would not be entitled to any CTC for 2011/2012 due to this income. But reading other threads, it doesn't seem that straightforward.
Can anyone advise whether we might be entitled to anything....we have 3 children & Childcare costs of £84 p/w. I work 20 hours, my hubby works 37. I'd welcome any advice as we're going to struggle until my daughter starts school in September.

On a joint income of 41k, my calculations give an annual award of £1749, just over £33/ week
Hope that helps0 -
What is happening at the TCO? From several recent posts TCO staff have been telling customers complete rubbish. Have they taken on a load of new staff and not trained them?0

Zagfles I always assumed that you worked for HMRC in the tco :rotfl:Its just that you always seem so clued up on tc's.
From reading a few of your posts today it seems you dont?
You are lucky that you have such a good knowledge of tc's...they confuse the life out of me . :rotfl:The loopy one has gone :j0 -
Thanks for the replys!!! Ok, so I am right that it doesn't automatically stop at £40000 & it does depend on your individual situation? My worry is that we'll continue to be paid until the renewal is finalised, then if we're not entitled to anything then we'll have to pay it all back. I am going to try to put it to one side until then, but things are going to be very difficult! I just find the whole system very complicated...20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

And that's the reason why Zagfles couldn't possibly work in the tco!0 -

Nope - I understand them pretty well as I had a problem a few years ago, and I took to trawling through the documents and manuals to understand them and get it resolved. The online manuals which give the rules and basically tell TCO staff how to operate are pretty comprehensive. And since then several friends/relatives have had problems with tax credits which I've helped with. I've even been phoned by people I've never heard of (...so and so says you know about tax credits, I've got this problem...) which I don't really mind as I've had a few drinks out of it :beer:0 -

Blue22's calculation is right, so if you work on that basis, ie if you're getting more than 33pw put a bit aside otherwise you'll be safe to spend it.
If you want additional confirmation you could try the turn2us calculator https://www.turn2us.entitledto.co.uk/entitlementcalculator.aspx0 -
