car tax and part exchange
Options
Hi,
I am trading in my old car in part exchange for a newer model.
We have just paid £245 for car tax on our car in february.
Are we entitled to keep the car tax disc and get the money back on it or will the garage expect to have this?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've removed the tax disc from any car I've PXed and sent it in for a refund.0

I'd be telling them their price they offer does not include the TAX... Chap I work with has just had £800 against his new car and that included the tax as part of the deal...0

Is it true that garages can no longer cash in the car tax?0

Yep - most main dealers enter the remaining months of tax and the tax amount into the system to subtract it from your PX price - I always tell them to set that back down to £0 if they want a sale0 -
yep. dealers can't cash it in but they can pass it on when they sell the car on0
