Water Rockets.

If it stays dry I want to make several water rockets with my daughter. I have the film canisters, the sticky tape and paper. However, I went to the local chemist and decided that Alkaseltzer was too expensive and came away with two expensive small packets of Sodium Bicarbonate and citric acid. Does anybody know the mix I need to use?

Thanks.

Rachel.

2 parts nitroglycerine to 3 parts potassium nitrate to 1 part granulated sugar.

Take no notice - I'm only kidding. Experiment a bit.

Hope none of the neighbours have a greenhouse or conservatory. :D

Another method that i had great fun with as kid. goes something like this.
    you'll need:
    1)cork
    2)football valve
    3)plastic bottle
    4)workmate type work bench
    5)Bicycle pump or similar

Fill bottle with water insert cork with football valve pushed though.

Clamp sticking out bit cork into workmate(I'm sure you can improvise if you haven't got a workmate)

Pump up and and hilarity will presue.

Thanks MankeySteve. It sounds great fun. Where would I get a football valve from?

Used to buy them from a local bike shop, I dont know why they sold them most high-street sport shops should stock them. Another method was to get the flexible tube you get with a bike pump and drill a hole though the cork the same width as the tube and push it though.
