Hi peeps. Just updating this old ramblings of mine - just to say thanks for your concern and to let you know I am alive really!
I haven't been on the site since November. The slowness of the site really p'd me off back then and I hit a really rocky period in my financial life and the constant penny pinching that was my life really did my head in as well. I just had to stay away, I was not a happy LA.
I am still in a lot of overdraft debt but.....as reckless as it sounds, I don't really care. The loan is coming down slowly, I am paying every month into a wedding savings account (it's not under my control thankfully - my fiancé is far better with money than I am!) and the credit cards are gone.
I hope you are all getting on well anyway - really sweet to see some of you have posted even as recently as yesterday. Thank you.
Not sure when I'll be on again as I am still feeling a bit weird when it comes to ££ if I am honest but I wish you all well with your debt free quests (or remaining debt free quest!) and truly hope you are happy & well.
TTFN.

Well hello to anyone reading this who remembers me!
Just popped back on to do a bit of updating.
I have changed jobs twice since last being on here! Fortunately (touch wood) I am loving my current job and it is paying well. In fact it is the best paid job I have ever had. I don't mean that to sound boastful at all in case anyone thinks it is - not at all. But I have a new found respect for my earnings with this new job and I have had another epiphany if you like. Before I think I would have just seen this extra cash as an excuse to go on a spend-a-thon but currently I am being even more careful with cash and I am hoping - really hoping - that my overdraft will be gone within 1 - 2 months.
The loan is still there but it is less than two years till it finishes - it's just ticking away in the background.
I do have a credit card but I only got a £500 limit and I only use it for things like insurance and urgent things and it gets paid off every month.
Also - sadly - I had a very BIG wake up call this year when someone very close to me was diagnosed with cancer. They are not in a great financial situation and as well as the sadness of seeing them go through operations and soon chemo, I was (am) also very very scared about their money situation and it re-affirmed just how I need to sort things out once and for all.
It was something this person said to me about money as well - how their partner has no respect for money and it p's them off! - that made me reflect and ask if I have had a healthy respect for money of late. I guess the answer wasn't 100% yes cos I have felt that change/shift inside me to try and make things better.
Right I am off to update my signature now and then I might even venture onto the 'What DFW things have you done today?' thread!!
Anyway take care everyone and thanks for reading as I offload my ramblings for the first time in ages!

Hello!!!!!!! Good news about the job and the new "respect" for your salary. Sorry to read about the wake up call, but out of everything crap comes something good, and in your case it is just giving you that financial nudge that you might not otherwise have had.
