When ya' get to my age (ie "woman of a certain age") and single - believe me...a good meal comes higher up the list of possible pleasures than any other thoughts:rotfl:
....and 'tis nice....I sauteeed it up with a little butter and some tomatoes and threw it on top of pasta with some hazelnuts and bit of grated Parmesan...

Fennel seeds prolifically and the roots are tough, hard to get rid of.It can be a nuisance.0

<as I sit here eating mine and thinking "Yep...that tastes like garlic - must BE ramsons then...rather than owt else...."
(think thats a pretty safe bet to assume - as it stank the place out with a strong garlic smell....)
Don't let it go free range in the garden, keep it in a pot and it will be lovely in omelettes as well
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

But this is not a yearly seeding fennel, as in the family Foeniculum, but a Ferula. While it self seeds, this doesn't happen every year. It can take several seasons before it is strong enough to throw up a flower spike, and when it does seed, it dies.
So it's not much of a nuisance. If it was, there would surely be more of them around.
Ceridwen, your dinner sounds... err.. nice, but very vegetarian. :A0 -

Is yours the same variety (8ft tall) and does it keep coming up because it flowered and dropped seed or do the new ones grow from the roots?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0
