Spending money in Majorca

Hi all,

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about going to Majorca in June and staying in Calas de Mallorca. I was just wondering if anyone knows how much spending money I would need? There's 4 of us going for a week all inclusive (inc alcohol, but not the named brands) from the 16th-23rd June, so we're just missing high season. We want to visit water parks etc and that's about it really. Roughly how much money would I need to take? Someone told my boyfriend they were just back from Palma and spent 600 euro and had hardly anything to show for it so I was wondering if we'd really need as much as that since we aren't staying in the city?

  • I would say you definitely don't need 600 euros we went to Majorca last September for a week all inclusive we took 300 quid and have loads left so just ended up blowing it on stuff for the kids whilst there and even ate out one night instead of at the hotel for a treat onthe last night. It's up to you how much you take really as all your drinks and food are covered so any money will just be for those extras and excursions which won't be loads unless you plan on going on a trip everyday.

  • Thanks a lot. I was thinking about bringing something like 250/300, as any money I bring will just be extra to do activities, but when I heard that this morning I paniced a bit because I wouldn't be able to get that type of money together in 2 months time. Is there anything you would recommend doing?

    Hi,
we found it quite expensive in general when out of the hotel. If you plan on a few days at the beach etc drinks, ice creams and snacks are quite dear - as well as the trips. We normally take £500-£600 and that is plenty for 2 weeks. You may not need that much, but I don't like to go away and worry about spending money when on holiday. I prefer to just take it and change it back (or save for next time if I can). I must say when we went half board for 2 weeks we spent a fortune though - well over £1000 - and did nothing extravagant!!

I think £300 should be fine for a week!

i was there about 18 months ago and spend about 200 for the week, we ate out on night and went out to the pubs there
unless its changed much in the 18 months since i was there, there is very little to do, so trips to palma which is about an hour away will cost more

what hotel are you staying in
  • We're staying in Club Cala Romani. I found it on easyjet for £280 about 2 months ago and checked it on tripadvisor and it seemed fine. If I'd known about this forum before I probably would have asked people about it first, so I just hope it's okay.

it wasnt there i stayed, dont get me wrong it is a lovely little town, but not much to do, i had a good relaxing holiday when i was there, there is a few resturants, pubs and clubs in the place
shops as well so you can get your souveniers or ciggies lol
you can walk along the costal road and do boat trips, think we went to porto christo for the day i cant recall if there were any watersports at the beach area

there was a bus you could get to palma, but i dont think it ran that often and was usually busy so we never bothered going - we were just happy lying by the pool and drinking the all inclusive lol
  • Yeah, everywhere I've read that it's quite quiet there so I think we'll maybe do a day trip or two to Palma and one of the waterparks around there. I read somewhere there was a glass bottomed boat trip you can do, is that true? The website seemed quite old so I don't know if it's still there.

yeah there prob is, most of the boat tours leave from the section at the beach at the hotel america going just at the start of the coastal path and theres lots to choose from

I've been to that resort. It's a very quiet man made resort and a number of the hotels are all inclusive. From what I remember, there were just a few bars, shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotels.

Try and get to the Caves of Drach which are quite near to the resort. It's a fantastic experience and the musical part is very beautiful. I've been twice and really enjoyed it both times.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Thanks :) I'll remember that.
