Hi, My husband was made redundant last week after 10 years out of the blue the company has liquidated. He will get 10 weeks of redundancy pay and we have been informed he will recieve the forms to claim once the liquidators have been appointed. He has also been told that he will get notice pay in his contract it is a month but we have since read the stat is 10 weeks as he has been there 10 years is this correct?
Also JSA have said e cant claim until his notice is up however we believe he is not going to get any redund/notice pay until at least july due to it having to go through the government.
Therefore if we have no JSA he will have no income at all.
Can he start a new job in his notice period? if he did would this affect his reduncancy pay?
Thanks

It is correct that if he has worked 10 full years he will get 10 weeks redundancy pay, if he is over 41 years of age any time after this he
will get 1.5 weeks
He is entitled to notice of 1 week for every full year he has worked. (with a capped weekly amount of £400)
He is also entitled to be paid for any accrued holiday pay.
Nothing stopping him from starting work while he is under notice.
Good luck, its a bit of a shock but you will get over it.
Ive been with my company for 25 and the hammer is coming down soon.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
