Landlord Problem

First thing don't worry you haven't done anything wrong and neither has his creditors.
The data protection act specifically has sections on data being kept up to date and information can be taken from third parties as there is a business need.
Your Landlord is the one in the wrong and he knows it, this doesn't stop him being antagonistic and vindictive towards yourself.
I would make sure when you leave that everything is in order and place is spotless. Make sure you clean the oven, grill and carpets as these are the first things that will he will be looking to make deductions against. If there are any marks on the walls I would repaint the wall as paint isn't that expensive and a new coat with a roller doesn't take very long, just make sure you put dust sheets down so none gets on the carpet.
On another point have you been served notice in writing yet, if not when you find a place either make sure you give notice of a month in writing because his text does not count as notice.0 -
I've spoken to Shelter and they have sent a lot of information out, I think I'm better doing something face to face.0

I fully intend on leaving the place in pretty much the same condition as when we moved in. No we have not had any notice in writing yet. He said he will send it ASAP. But previous experience with his 'ASAP' he's not exactly the quickest at getting things done. Thanks for all your help, it's most appreciated.:o0 -
I moved into the property approximately two years ago. When I first moved in, he came round with all his recent utility bills so he could give me the numbers so I could set up my own account with them. He told me I should just change the name on the existing accounts to make things easier.
When he left, I noticed he were in arrears on his accounts and his council tax. When I rang one company; Scottish Power if I remember rightly - they informed me that my landlord had been in touch asking to change names on his account, thus making me and my partner liable for the arrears incurred.
He also advised us to pay him our council tax and he would pay on our behalf. Something we didn't take up because if I remember rightly he had over £1,000 of arrears!
I put some paragraphs in to make it easier to read, you state you didn't take up the council tax, you never stated you didn't take up the others, with the greatest of respect yourself, I read your post 3 times to try to clarify what you had written.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
