a French bulldog question

My son has two frenchies. The female is 3 and recently has has episodes of extreme dribbling much more than the usual doggy dribble. It looks like she has just had a drink of water and forgotten to swallow it and its slowly dripping out of her mouth. It happens about once a week and we cant pinpoint what triggers it. we thought at first it might be an allergy but the vet said its not, it more likely because her tongue is too long and she's too " jowly". He said only an operation to tuck her jowls up a bit would cure it but its not done often, its expensive and an uncomfortable procedure for her. My son doesn't want her to have it done and isn't even sure that this is whats causing it. Has anyone else experienced this & if so, has anything helped.

You'll find it's an hereditary problem from poor breeding. The French Bulldog is another victim of "celebrity must have pooches" and as such there are some very poor specimens of the breed around now

I'd also recommend having her spayed asap and please do not breed from her!!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Thanks, she's already spayed. Not sure about the breeding, she came from a registered breeder and her male line ( father) is from the same line as sons male dog ( both fathers are brothers). The male dog is a fine specimen but even he is neutered, they never intended breeding any of them.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

My rottie is like this occasionally. I just wipe his mouth with a tissue. It's only the same as wiping a kids snotty nose really :-)0

I wish it was that easy LM, but it pours out of her mouth. Her bed is wringing wet when it happens. At first they thought she was wetting the bed, but she's not. I guess they'll just have to put up with it. She's a darling though. Very cute.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0
