My Little Performance Bargain
My last two car buys were imports, an A Class Merc for my wife on which I saved £3700 and later traded it in for an imported Megane II Diesel which was £3500 less than UK list, again for my wife.
With motorcycles claiming my mate and his daughter life some 18 months ago then my brother in law (just injured) last Nov I sold the bike and started looking for a nippy little car instead.
What to buy, the moneysaver in me said Mini Cooper, tiny depreciation but everyone's got one, Clio 182 and Pug 206 GTi both heavy on losses and all three floating around the £13,000 mark. Hmmmm
I can't quite believe what I bought but it was pre-registerd, 3 door, 0 miles, alloys, Recaro seats, leather steering wheel, air con, twin airbags, CD/MP3 player, discs all round, ABS, EBD, sports exhaust, Supaguard paintshield, UK car with 3 year warranty and 3 year breakdown, its faster than the Cooper (0-60 in the 8 seconds), £125 a year tax BUT to get the best from it it needs Superunleaded so that makes petrol a bit more pricey.
It cost, wait for it, £6500 on the road, you can't buy a decent KA for that ! Its got to be the budget performance car buy of the decade.
Anyway you can tell by now I love it although I accept its a love it or hate it style of car, want to know what it is ?

Suzuki Ignis Sport, but a C2 VTR/VTS (125bhp 1.6i engine) is a possibility though the new on the road price seems a bit high0

Sorry for not replying earlier just had a 12 hour day, can't turn the overtime down as a moneysaver :-)
Yes its an Ignis Sport 1.5 Sport, love it or hate it, but before you comment have a drive in one, if you remember the Pug 205 Gti or the Charade GTti then I assure you you'll love it,
Can't recommend it highly enough £ for £ its the best fun on the road.0 -

Its the same with every major purchase, reasearch, telephone calls, internet searches and in this case asking owners on Ignis Sport Forums where they bought their cars from.
I had to travel 260 from Yorkshire to Edinburgh to Belmont Suzuki to get the deal and so spent £50 on fuel but so be it.
Start with https://www.froogle.co.uk you'll find a metallic black one at £6995 and a metallic blue one at the same price with a few miles on.
Then work your way through a national search on the Autotrader website and start ringing round for the best deal. Make sure your ready there and then to do the deal with a credit/debit card deposit. There should be no nasty surprises with condition if the cars is new.
I was impresed with Belmonts efficiency, they said they do a lot of over the phone deal and piled em high to sell em cheap.
They're not my cup of tea but had roofless, metallic Jimny's with part leather new at £7495.0
