car oil change

Options
Hi all,

I normally change the oil on my car myself but I'm accidentally living in London at the moment and don't have a drivewway, the tools etc to do it myself.

Can someone tell me the best/cheapest drive in-drive out oil change place please?

Thanks,

National do an oil and filter change from £22.50. See on their website.

Yup, National or Kwik Fit (shudder). Either will do the job for between £20 and £35; just tell them to sling their hook when they advise you that the car's shocks, brakes, exhaust and tyres are all shot :)
  • anotehr vote for national i got castrol edge turbo diesel oil put in my car for a very reasonable price infact it was cheaper for them to do it than fo rme to go buy the oil and filter lol. and amazongly dint try to sell me anything even after i got them to look for a noise i was hearing lol

oh and look and book online it cheaper you get a online discount.

Drive n to any chain (no names mentioned) late in the evening and get chatting to a grease monkey about a "cash in hand job"

Bit extreme but you never know.;)
  • £27 for my daily work car at National not including the 10% off... I can do it for around £12 st home Oil & filter... If you have no means of doing it yourself and no tools etc.... It;d be well worth it.;)

Depends on the car and if your fussy about the oil. Heard lots of complaints about fast fit chains putting the
    wrong oil in.
Most cars wont notice but some do.

Thanks for all the replies. Got a quote of £29 for my car (Peugeot 406 diesel) which seems pretty good. I've always changed the oil on my cars and bikes myself but with no tools and nowhere to do it I'll just have to grit my teeth and hand over the cash.

Next question - wheel balancing and tracking. Are National the cheapest for this too?

    Thanks.

There is a place in NW London, near Willesden i think, where you can rent a proper ramp/lift with tools to do your own servicning. I will try and find out the name as i read about it in Car Mechanics Mag last year.

I am fussy about oil, so like to do it myself, but did use Kwikfit in Romford when I lived in a flat several years ago.

Just bought 5 litres of Mobil 1 0w40 fully synthetic diesel oil from Costco for £28 last week for use in the wifes Clio Dci, it is priced at £50 almost everywhere else it is stocked, and is cheaper than any other quality oil available for her car.

I had no problems with Kwikfit. Perhaps there is some differences between branches, also one of the blokes at Romford is in St Johns Ambulance and i know his brother who used to work in the LAS, and i have only ever had good service from this branch, but it is the only one i have used for many years.
