Sky Magic Eye confusion

Hi, hope someone can clear this up; we're soon to be getting Sky installed with a Sky+ box in the living room. We also want to be able to watch Sky in the bedroom.

I know this can be done with a 'magic eye' bit of kit but can't find anything online as to how and where it goes to make it work(?)

Are they a two part thing? One part plugged into the back of the Sky box and another part which is a remote receiver in the bedroom tele? If so, what does the remote bit plug into? Does it also need a normal ariel plugged in? I'm confused!

The one I have is just a single part "eye" device. The second TV is fed from one of the "RF out" sockets on the Sky box, and the "eye" tees into the "RF out" cable just before it plugs into the second TV's aerial input.

The "eye" gets its power from the Sky box, so it needs to be connected to the "RF out" socket which provides remote power (this can be determined from the markings on the back panel).

That's great thanks - can someone tell me what sort of cable (it'll need to me 35m) I need to run to the Eye/2nd tv? I've read it needs to be "double sheilded" or something?

Any 75 ohm coax suitable for TV reception will do fine.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Thanks, last question; is this different to the cable I currently have tacked along the skirting (with screw-on type connectors on either end) that was carrying Virgin cable into the bedroom, or do I need an entirely new one?

No thats coax. You'll just have to replace the F connectors with TV Aerial ones.

You can get screw on belling connectors instead of replacing the F ones.

I also prefer this type of magic eye as the type you can buy from tesco's ect are easily damaged as the main part plugs directly into the tv so if the tv's in a tight place, say on the dressing table,it's easy to break the contacts on the plug box if you push the tv back as it,combined with the Belling connector, sticks out a good 1 1/2 inch beyond the back of the average portable tv casing.

The one below doesn't as the is a short cable to plug into the TV with the connection box seperate, which is one reason I recommend them.
