Hi all after much deliberation I have changed my 7 seater People carrier for a car.
I have enjoyed the people carrier, great for holidays, very versatile and has been very reliable.
However I have missed driving a car and have recently got fed up with rolling around corners and the noise of my Mitsibushi Grandis.
After much thought I've bought a 10 month old Citreon C5 and I'm really quite pleased with the price I paid and the car I have bought. I plan to get a towbar fitted next week for my bike carrier and was wondering what bluetooth system with USB Box is?
Does anyone know if I can connect my ipod to it and could I also connect my phone to it?
Is there any decent links to explain what the Bluetooth system with USB Box is? I am struggling to find one....
The car I have bought is a Citroen C5 Tourer Exclusive 2.0HDI

The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Hi
Bluetooth allows hands free and wireless connection to your phone / iphone to answer the phone whilst driving, and the callers voice comes through the car speakers.
If a car is fitted with Bluetooth (which most often is an 'extra' apart from the highest spec cars of the range where it comes as standard) it will also have an Aux port. However cars with Aux port not always have Bluetooth.
The Aux post is just like the connector/port at the top of your Iphone where you would plug your earphones in.
Line this http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1311&_nkw=iphone+aux+cable&_sacat=See-All-Categories
To use it you need a cable to connect from your Iphone to the port in the car. Once you are connected you will be able to listen to your music from the Iphone/Ipod/MP3 player on your car speakers,. but cant use the phone capability, IE phone calls wont be streamlined to the speakers only music.
If your car doesnt have Bluetooth you will need to install an after market one like the Parrot MKi9200. This will allow you to both listen to your music and take calls.

Hope this answers your question

The after market stuff works, but you end up not bothering to switch it on every time unless you are going on a long trip.
It's much better to get the car model with bluetooth integrated already, so you are using the built-in car speakers. When you turn the engine on, the bluetooth in the car comes on and finds your phone wirelessly. When you get a call or make a call, the system cuts out or turn the music volume down automatically. You get the same result if you replace the CD/radio with bluetooth capability. With a visor handsfree, you get a tinny speaker.
The "Aux" socket is for a 3.5mm stereo jack headphone style plug, but cannot charge the iPod. Yet again, an integrated dash mounted iPod dock is preferrable.
I have a SONY Walkman version of the mobile phone, which comines the iPod function with a phone, but that was outmoded by the Apple iPhone years ago.0 -
thanks for this, thanks for the links I see that my car has a USB and bluetooth. So I should be able to connect my telephone up and will check if I can connect Mp3, Ipod, memory stick. I am also going to see if my Garmin sat nav will connect aswell (probably not at the same time as my ipod which will be a shame!)0

It will probably NOT have an Aux, but instead a USB port. Very handy, you can plug in USB sticks or your normal Ipod lead and off you go. They probably wont work with older song you have bought from ITunes but the new ones without DRM should be ok.0 -
It looks like it has two headphone jack sockets and I do believe it has a usb socket aswell but will have to find it when
i collect the car a week on tuesday.
