My son hasnt had a car for the last 3 years and is intending to buy one in a couple of weeks. When he was last on the road he had either 3 or 4 years no claims. Thing is he cant remember who his last insurer was and cant find the paperwork.
Is there anything he can do or is it just a case of starting again from scratch?

After so long of not having insurance, he'll probably have to start again.
Discuss with a broker; perhaps they'll give an introductory discount (assuming no accidents or convictions etc)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Thank you for the reply Premier. Thats what I thought but its flaming annoying. The prblem with asking for a discount is that although he can prove he has no points, he cant prove no claims without remembering who is last insurer was. I thought there may have been some sort of database all companies use or something like that.0

Has he had the use of any car, ie a company car or van. I work for a Local Authority and the people who drive vans on a regular bascis, even if no private use allowed are often given a no claims discount when they first insure a private car
Has he been named on any other policy0 -

It won't matter about the old insurance, as it has been so long ago he probably get any NCB even if he could prove what he once had."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Just a thought, if he paid for his insurance in monthly installments, he can ask his bank for copies of a few statements and check the insurance name on them.0
