Registered Owner and Finance
Both my son and myself have our own cars and are thinking of trading them both in and buying one car to share as I don't drive many miles now. If I get the car and have my son as the registered owner, can I get the finance in my name? We have got the insurance quotes with him as the registered owner and keeper and me as a named driver so have done this part right but didn't know much about the finance issue.

You will have to check with the finance co. Some have it as a condition of contract (makes it nice and easy come repo time) others don't mention it at all.0

A Ford dealer recently told me that if you finance a new car it has to be registered to the person in whose name is the finance. However if you buy a used car it can be registered to a different name other than the person who's paying the finance. I dont know if this applies to all dealers or just Ford.0

You can be registered keeper, and can list your son as the main driver when taking insurance out if you want.0
