'Poor' credit rating - renting

Me and my partner have applied to rent a house, but we both have a 'poor' credit rating according to creditexpert.co.uk.
We both earn more than 60 times the monthly rental of £650, earning 31k and 24k respectively, and are currently in rented accommodation.
Will the fact we both have a 'poor' credit rating really affect our chances? We can obviously pay, as we are doing now, just a bit worried that they'll say no.

Somebody may correct me, but I think that a credit / tenant check is concerned with any adverse public information, such as county court judgements or IVA's, or if you are bankrupt. They will also check with your employers and may also ask for character references.
If you have multiple missed payments, defaults and debt collectors chasing you, they won't know about it as that information is only available to lenders.0 -
