I have read somewhere some people just pretend they did not know and wait until the bank/the owner make a contact. Hence, at least if the figure is significant you might earn some interest ...
They might suspect but no way they could prove it that you already know about it....Ring the bank and ask if they can tell you where it has come from ...?
... if it is a mistake, you have no right to keep it - they will take it back anyway.0
