You're probably best creating a separate thread for this, rather than posting on a thread dealing with a different matter0

But it also pertains to banking, probably you may be refused a basic bank account but if we we are going to have a right decision on what kind of banking we are going to take then there will be no worried at all. Have a safe strategy in banking. :j
Just sharing thoughts,
Steve.

In the last week I've managed to open 2 basic accounts, one with Lloyds TSB and the other with Nationwide.
My credit history over the last two /three years has been very poor after sticking my head in the sand when my business failed.
The Lloyds account was easily opened online, and they sent out forms very quickly for me to take i.d. to my preferred branch.
Nationwide takes a little longer, but comes with Visa debit card.
I was rejected by Barclays, HSBC and those scumbags at RBS.
Hope this helps anyone looking for a basic account.0 -
A bank doesn't have to give you anything, Even a Basic bank account, Although this is rare to be declined for one (They run Fraud checks, ID checks, and of course checks to make sure your not bankrupt etc), Unless you're after a full current account (Visa Debit Card, Cheque book etc) then they'll run a full credit check, You say you already have an advantage gold account (I had one, Although i found downgrading it to a current account plus to be more beneficial, And i still have a full current account, Cheque Guarantee visa debit, Cheque book, And a small overdraft, Without paying £12.95 a month), But back onto subject, Maybe you've been declined as its policy that natwest customers can't have 2 of the same financial products ? In this case 2 step accounts ? Maybe try somewhere like Lloyds tsb for the classic account ? You still get a visa debit card, And a cheque book if you want one...
The Lloyds Classic account is a full credit scored current account. The OP has stated he doesn't have a good CR.0 -
why not set up a separate cash savings type account, with tesco/ sainsburys etc? some do free standing orders amd bacs..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Yes maybe it's true that a bank doesn't have to give you anything but we do have a right to choose what type of bank we're going to set our account. A bank with less or without tax yet offers financial freedom privacy and financial security and has more advantage.
Why don't be prefer to "OFFSHORE BANKING"? There are a lot of opportunities available and it's just in our own way which one we are going to handle.
Wanna know what offshore banking is all about?
Just sharing my insights and ideas:-)0
