Your also 28 where as ops son is 18 hence the difference.

I was replying to the 40-year-old moaning about the cost of insurance.
  • Loving this thread very though provoking and wondering whether my youngster would appreciate an MG Midget!

Just welcome your kids to the real world of getting screwed over, it begins with car insurance getting ripped off in pubs then council tax........

hahah he is learning the value of a pound for sure!!
  • Vw Beetles ? GREAT cars, cheap insurance, small engine and a HUGE owners club with support.
Once you get fed up with it, rip the body off and stick a Porsche Speedsster or 550 body on then sell it for £12K+

My ex had a (show winning) beetle and a type 2 at various points. I drove both of them fairly regularly. I'm genuinely suprised that the germans have a reputation for good cars! The bus was OK, but you kinda expected it as it was a big clunky thing, the beetle though was horrific! Worst car I have ever driven - and I've driven a fair few classics and moderns. I'd rather have an allegro than a beetle.

The other thing is with the air cooled VWs, they are a NIGHTMARE to service, any car where the easiest way to change the spark plugs is to pull the engine cannot be a good car in my books...
