Posting item to RUSSIA - nervous!?

Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that while I don’t sell on eBay, I've posted a lot of items to my friends in Russia. I've sent packages to Tver, St Petersburg and Moscow and have never had a problem
I’ll admit sometimes delivery has been slow but everything I’ve sent was accounted for and arrived safely. I’ve always sent my items via royal mail, so can’t comment on any other carriers unfortunately. I think Russia just has a bad rep with regards to posting etc. I hope everything works out for you! 0 -
Apparently Russian customs are not allowing any carriers to deliver to private addresses in Russia at the moment

When you mentioned this on a different thread I did wonder if that is why my own sales to Russia increased as I only use RM and so maybe I am one of the few still selling there? I must keep an eye open to watch in case RM go the same was as the couriers.
All my items are under 2KG though as otherwise I do not ship abroad anyway. I do sometimes get a strange generic packing guide from my buyers though explaining about safe packing for Russian customs, which I have not seen from other countries.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. And have you looked at the list of countries your company delivers to Sarah? Russia is not one of them!0

Oh the irony, so poor even the paid spammers don't bother using it!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi,
Just posting back here to thank everyone for their comments and advice.
My item was definitely over 2kg and I couldn't make it any lighter. I felt bad about letting the ebay buyer down as they seemed very genuine and they were happy to pay the almost £60(!) to send by Parcelforce - think it was Global Express.
I was really worried it would never get there and I'd be facing a claim for the item cost and the postage but I should have more faith as the item did arrive safely and buyer has left good feedback so I'm really happy. If anyone else needs to send to Russia I can vouch for the Parcelforce service - this was sending to Moscow. It was pretty quick delivery too.0
