Hope they find no worthwhile oil down there, enough blood has been shed.I have a deep burning indifference0

I guess they weren't heading for DES acreage

OP, you are aware this could yet happen to RKH? Admittedly less likely, but if flow rate tests show poor results you'll be looking at very big drops in SP.
You're new, think carefully about how you'll feel if you lose the majority of our cash. It is a very real possibility with your investment.0 -
It is common knowledge that there are huge reserves off the Falkland Islands. One of the reasons why the Iron Lady decided to go to war with the Argies. It will be difficult develop these reserves. Knowing when, who will profit and what affect this may have on share price is even more difficult to predict."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

DES have plummeted this morning - the latest RNS says they got a dry (or almost dry) well.0

With AIM shares you may be limited in what research you can do on the financials, because often there's no revenue stream or if there is there aren't any profits. What you can research is the board of directors. Not always a guarantee (of anything) but it may show up the odd bad apple.0

Ouch, poor Des investors. Reading their bulletin board I was tempted just to have a punt at the end of last week. Thank goodness I didn't have anything left to invest.
As a new (middle aged) investor, the thing I have learned from all of this is to perhaps leave the AIM shares alone and go for more predictable companies in the FTSE100. It appears to me that AIM shares are like putting money on the horses. You can study the form all you like but it just comes down to dumb luck in the end.

Yes there are presently oilmen working in the offshore of the Falkands, my partner flew there at the weekend. I think the company operating the rig is Diamond Offshore Drilling based in Aberdeen (as are we). Much to my partners dismay after a long flight to the Falklands they were then told they have a 16hr boat journey to reach the rig!!! No luck!! :j0
