I've sent them an email as they've nicely put an email address on the letter they've sent me, pointing out the 3 years ended in December and asking them to clarify.

Will be interesting to hear what they say.

    I suspect a mistake.

Until now it's been pretty clear that varying payments to nil (suspending) does not stop the 3 years running.

If they should now be trying to reinterpret that, then I think they would opening a big can of worms.

I suspect some part of error on their part too, try not and worry and post back with their response.

But the suspended months count toward the 36 surely Dojo?

The word "not" was missing from my post, my bad.

I've received another letter this morning in response to the email I sent them. They have notified the OR of my query regarding the end date of the IPA. Moon Beever will let me know when they've had a response from the OR.

Hopefully the OR will write to you at the same time they write to Moonbeever.

I got a response back. Suggesting I speak to the OR, the OR said the IPA hadn't been suspended since Nov 2008, so had to send a lot of paperwork off to prove that I was on benefits. I held my hands up to a brief period of employment back in 2009, sent them payslips for that.

Just waiting for a response back.

    What will happen now?

Its possible they will work out that you owe them a small amount for the period of employment that you had.

I took on an extra job, but decided it wasnt worth it after all the tax and OR deduction so sent them my pay slip, I made one payment and then my IPA was suspended again, so they may do the same sort of thing.
