USA Cheques

Does anyone know the most cost efficient way for me to cash a cheque made out to me in dollars?
Many thanks.

    Singular or plural?

I had to pay in a monthly $ cheque into my business account at NatWest and they only charged once (about £12) per batch.

I was also going to ask a question about US cheques ... if my friend in the US needs to pay me some money , can she just write me a cheque? and would it be in dollars ? and if so can I just pay it into my current acc?

    thanks

Thanks v much all - will give Auctionchex a go. Rather that than let the bank take a tenner or more for the privilege!

I've got a few NYSE shares, and auctionchex always give excellent value on even the smallest dollar cheque (or should that be check ??)

Banks as already mentioned charge an admin fee which can be anywhere from £10 to £18 plus you won't always get the best exchange rate. I used to get regular low value cheques in USD and after ringing round the banks I opened a USD currency account then exchanged the money once I had the equivalant of £50 in there!
