Wii - what do I need to buy

Hi, I'm far behind others - as have no kids- but want to finally buy a Wii (will give my godchildren something else to do on a rainy night at my house!).
My question is - what exactly do I need to purchase?? Talking to the guy in the shop today he would have had me come away with alsorts! I fancy that 'board thingy' as I do a lot of yoga - so that might be nice. The kids want 'sports resort'.
Are there any complete packages out there - or do you buy all bits seperate?
Not sure if this where I should have posted - but it seemed a good place to start!!
Thanks in advance

hi Scrappie
You'll need the console which comes with one remote hand held controller
http://www.game.co.uk/Consoles/Wii/White-Wii-Console-with-Wii-Remote-Plus/~r352944/
It may be worth searching for the console with one remote AND the sports resort all in the same box (but i couldnt find it) If you can't find a bundle with sports resort in the box you will need to buy the sports resort game seperately
EDIT: Just found this, console, remote, sports resort and 1 nunchuck
http://www.game.co.uk/Consoles/Wii/Wii-Console-with-Wii-Sports-Resort-Wii-Play-with-Wii-Remote-and-GAMEWare-wired-nunchuk/~r354618/?s=sports%20resort
Then you will need at least one more remote hand held controller
http://www.game.co.uk/Accessories/Wii/Controllers-and-Accessories/Nintendo-Wii-Remote-Plus-Controller-White/~r352220/
And the balance board which comes with the wii fit game in the box
http://www.game.co.uk/Games/Wii/Fitness-and-Health/Wii-Fit-Plus-with-Wii-Balance-Board/~r342278/?s=balance
Some of the games in the sports resort require nunchucks, you'll need 2 of them
http://www.game.co.uk/Accessories/Wii/Controllers-and-Accessories-Controllers/GAMEWare-Wii-Nunchuck/~r347598/?s=nunchuck
So to summarise in total you will need console with two remotes, 2 nunchucks, sports resort game and balance board, then any extra games you need. Don't buy preowned consoles, or bits.
You can shop around on ebay for new accessories but buy the main console from GAME or a local high st retailer.
Hopefully i haven't missed anything, mariocart is good, we bought the steering wheel accessory from Poundland for a quid!!
My how the prices are cheap now, me being a game freak (well back in the day) I remember all that lot above and a load of games costing me the best part of £1300 :eek:0 -

That's like the bundle I got, but mine was from Asda.
You will love the Sports games, I have great fun with it.
Never mind the kiddies, you'll be fighting over it
Bowling is amazing.
The Fit game has a step dance exercise game and it's fab!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Guys thankyou soooo much!
You have saved me a lot of 'unknowladgeble' searching - I thought remote and nunchuck were the same thing:o I'm guessing everyone would have been dissapointed if I had not have had your advice!
I will go in search of a 'package' now - I did see one on the John Lewis site yesterday (before I posted here) but have no idea how prices compare.
Thanks again:DScrappie
