Building Survey

Hi

We're in the process of buying a house and just had the building survey report back. It says there are no lintels in the rear windows and need replacing asap. Went back to the buyer to ask for a reduction on price as also a few other niggly things need doing but need doing as soon as. Buyers come back saying windows only been fitted a year ago and the fitters said there was already lintels there concealed so werent going to put any in and just fitted the windows. Does this sound right or are they having me on? How can i prove this?

Is it not up to them to prove to you, rather than the other way round? Do the windows come with a guarantee?

Ring your surveyor and ask if this is possible. If necessary, ask him to go back and check. It sounds perfectly possible, but there again, it might be a porkie!
