What does it mean if there's a gap in house numbers?

As it says really - if say there's a number 51 and then there's 55, does it mean that 53 existed at some point and has been pulled down? And if so, is there any way I can check?
Thanks
Thanks

Could be two houses knocked into one.
Loads of reasons - why worry?
There's loads of gaps in the numbers where I live. I might count them one day.

Search the VOA council tax website using it's postcode http://www.voa.gov.uk/cti/InitS.asp?lcn=0.
If there has been an address on file it will show the date that the record was deleted. If you really need to know, contact the local council and ask where the building is now.New challenger £2014 in 2014

Number 53's a secret portal to another world. You can only see it if you're one of them.... an alien.0
