Hammonds also do the volume conveyancing for theAA only you pay a bit extra for getting referred to them by the AA.
Dickinson Dees are also a panel firm. They are on the panel for Northern Rock. (Or what's left of the rock.)
Panel and volume firms can be structured with teams of 'conveyancers' made up with law graduates and part qualified solicitors of varying legal experience who will shift your case along the process with varying amounts of indifference.
They do have the advantage of being able to get low prices for search insurance and search packs as they put large amounts of business through their suppliers.
On a side note putting 'hammonds direct' into google brings up a couple of funny results.
edit
and d3legal was promoted in the other thread too with a web link.

I was given them for free by Halifax. Fact that it was 0870 number put me off. So I sent them an email saying thanks but no thanks as I don`t ring 0870 numbers.0

Seems Hammonds Direct have launched a new brand (rely365), the calls still seem to go through to the same hammonds call centre.

Has anyone used optima, what are they like?0 -

AROUND 250 jobs are likely to be lost when Yorkshire-based Hammonds Direct is put into administration tomorrow.
Management, led by chief executive John Heller, of the Bradford-based conveyancing operation have been working on a rescue package to save all or part of the business but Mr Heller has confirmed that it will be put into administration tomorrow with ...for the full story register now for free or login below...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
I was going to use Hammonds Direct, but they sent me a letter the other day saying that as they hadn't received any correspondence from me that they were closing the file. I tried to phone them on some not-0870 numbers that I found on the internet but just got to listen to music for ages so gave up. Sent them an e-mail on Friday that they haven't replied to.
