Renting With Debt Relief Order??

Hi
I'm hoping someone could give me a bit of advice/reassurance on this subject. I got a DRO on 28th May 2010 - therefore it will be completed next month. I have been living at my parents for last year and now need to find a place of my own for me, my partner and my 4 year old son. I have approached several estate agents and have been honest about why I would not pass a credit check due to DRO. However, my partner is working and has an excellent credit record.
Most have said I would not be able to rent with them full stop because I am required to pass a credit check. I have offered to provide a guarantor - which they say is irrelevant and will not help with the credit check. I have asked if my partner could have a sole tenancy and I just be named as a "permitted occupier" - most said they do not allow this as I have to be on the tenancy agreement. A couple of agents said it will be down to the discretion of the landlord but we will not get our approx £200 application fee back if declined. I did contemplate whether to get my partner to apply for a house and not mention me but I would rather be honest about who's living there - I don't want to be hiding from the agent/landlord if they pay a visit!
One estate agent said it is not worth searching for a property until I am no longer subject to a DRO (after 28th May 2011). Will this even make a difference? It will still be on my credit report. I am at a loss of what I am supposed to do. I have been looking for a private landlord in local papers, websites, driving around the estates I want to live but to no avail.
I have copies of all my credit reports in the hope I can improve them somehow but nothing can be done apart from putting "a notice of correction" which I've read makes no difference.
Does anybody have any advice? Have I exhausted all my options?
Thanks in advance
Has nobody got any advice? I have posted in 3 separate forums and not one person has replied :-( very disappointing, not sure what I'm doing wrong
