Well - finally got through to operations after another 30 mins on hold. It took a bit of persuasion to get them to deal with it now, rather than next month when they said they would get be dealing with June bookings, Citalia have booked us onto the Stansted flights.
They did call me back once to ask which of the two flights (as mentioned in previous posts) we would prefer and promised to call me again to confirm that they had been booked, which they have not done - although it appears the flights have been booked, as I have just looked on Easyjet's site and it's allowing me to check in for the outgoing one.
Although I'm glad it seems to be sorted out now (let's hope), no one I spoke to at Citalia could have cared less. The most annoying thing is that had we been the ones to instigate a flight change, we would have had to pay extra but we are entitled to nothing back.
They also said they 'had no record' of my previous calls and had received no request to call me back!
My emails have still not even been auto-acknowledged, let alone answered.
What a shower.
This has put me off ever booking through a tour operator again and I only wish I'd just booked it all independently as I usually would; it would have been far less hassle and at least I would have been in control.0 -
I have to say I haven't looked at Citalia for years but I always thought of them as a quality company. I thought they were the holiday booking arm of Alitalia and CIGA Hotels.I didn't even know they are now part of TUI as mentioned above.
Fingers crossed, you will have no more surprises as egards your holiday.0 -
Yes, I thought they were a quality company too which is why I booked through them but -
the saga continues........
Wanting confirmation of the new flights via email, I rang yet again and was put through to 'After Sales.'
Explaining the situation to the CS assistant, she said yes fine, no problem, I'll email it to you.
Needing a break from it, I went out for an hour and returned to an email from Citalia. Hooray! At last!
Yes, there was a confirmation email all right - of the old cancelled flights!
They are now closed, I imagine until Monday.
I can honestly say that I've never come across such bungling incompetence in my entire life. :mad:0 -

I too thought they were a quality company, but i think i got muddled between quality and expensive. I realised this when i booked someones honeymoon very expensive and the flights were with "Ryanair", what quality company would use Ryanair, thats asking for trouble.0 -

I think they were actually a specialist, quality company at one time until they got swallowed up by the big fish.
Ironically, I only booked through them in the first place because it was the cheapest deal / best value I could find - far, far less than it would have cost if I'd booked all the elements of the same holiday independently. But of course I've 'paid' for this through wasting days going, "GGRRRRRR!!" :mad:0 -
Kitten,
It's a sad fact that when they were an independant specialist, they were very very good and very very professional. Unfortunately, like so many small specialist companies, once taken over by larger companies they lose their personal touch. The small group of staff that work in sales, after sales, ticketing get re-deployed and replaced by general staff from all throughout the company who - in the aftersales department, may take a call from a citalia customer one minute, and then speak with a Skytours package holiday customer on the next call.
Dont worry too much about it, i'm sure that even though they can be a nightmare to get through, i'm sure it's just a simple mistake.

Yes, and some people still insist on the old adage "You get what you pay for". I find that isn't the case at all nowadays and you have to check everything out before committing yourself.I too thought they were a quality company, but i think i got muddled between quality and expensive.
