Rents Continue Rising

The average rent rose by 0.4% in March as landlords enjoyed a surge in demand from would-be first-time buyers struggling to make a purchase, the LSL Property Services buy to let index has found.
The increase to about £685 a month marks the second month in a row that prices have risen. Rent is now 4.2% higher than this time last year and is at its most expensive since November 2010.
Landlords are benefitting from first-time buyers being forced to stay in rented accommodation as they struggle to save deposits. LSL says that despite higher loan-to-value mortgages coming on to the market, many young people simply cannot afford the average £25,000 deposits needed to get on the property ladder.
Now outstripping CPI as well.

Comparing paying out rent -v- losing interest on savings, it's cheaper for me to buy a 4-bed detached house with en-suite, conservatory, garage and garden (losing interest) than to fork out rent on a pokey 1-bed flat with night storage heaters and only a shower.0

I had a quick look this morning Hamish and found in Battersea (my main investment area) I am about £100/month behind similar properties (asking price). So I'm thinking about putting all 4 flats up by around £40 a month this summer.
I like to stay very competitive so I get a good choice of tenant and either reward existing long standing tenants or encourage new ones to stay on a few years, so I don't tend to rent at the full market value.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
The fact that Hamish champions high rent inflation. Which is basically the exploitation of the young and poor for the benefit for the rich, greedy and landed classes makes me SICK. It is also terrible for the economy when people are having to pay alot out on rents and so cant save a deposit to buy a house, and cant spend to help the economy.
Hamish, its pretty disgusting how much you love inflation.I am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j0 -

No because electricity bills are dependent on the cost of producing electricity. This is set by market forcesI am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j0 -
