OR's deposit to increase to £525 from June 1st 2011 (Total = £700 to go BR)

We were lucky to have the BR fees (£1020 for both of us) due to the sale of my car and also an offer of financial assistance from the British Legion, should we have needed it.
If we had to have relied on income alone to pay for our BR's, it would have taken us many, many months to get the fees together, despite only paying token amounts to creditors too.:(0 -
will we see a change of attitude on the part of ORs towards someone using an over-draught or cash from credit cards, pre-BR, to directly fund the OR's fees?
[something which, it appears, OR;s were happy to turn a 'blind eye' to up until now?]
Perhaps it will encourage folk to plan further ahead when considering BR....rather than making it almost a 'spur-of-the-moment decision? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
My guess is that the blind eye will no longer be turned. Given the cost of going BR has gone up so much in the time I've been thinking about it and the personal allowances before IPA have gone down, I think it's inevitable that not only will the cost come more in line with the ORs costs, as debtinfo suggests, but that the method of paying will also be more closely scrutinised. After all, are you not deliberately borrowing money which you have no intention of repaying?0

Technically, it would be classed as incurring credit with no reasonable prospect of repayment. But any such credit would need to be material to the overall debt before being considered for a BRO/BRU (it might also mean no early discharge)0
