good on you for giving it a go,could you not perhaps buy a piece of what we used to call 'boiling bacon' I think its around £4.00 and slow cook it and then slice up for the packed lunches.Got to be cheaper than 6 £1.00 packets of cold meat, or even cook some of the bangers slowly and when cold slice to use as a sandwich filling. If I see a tin of corned beef thats on a 'special offer' (got to be a decent brand though ) I buy it ,put in the fridge to get really cold then remove from the tin, slice up into portions and what I don't use straight away I freeze in cling film portions It freezes beautifully and is so useful for sandwiches.
I make my grandsons a 'fort' with a big mound of cheesy mash in the middle of the plate surrounded by cooked bangers cut in half as the 'wooden bits' top the middle roof of the fort with baked beans and hey presto something different for the kids to eat up the bangers
thanks for the ideas for lunches, I do usually keep a tin of corned beef for " emergency " if I run out of cooked meat, also just realsied I could make son egg and onion. cheap as have eggs and onion and mayo.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
You have a ham, why don't you use that for sandwiches?0

6 packs of meat for 2 lots of lunches seems a lot to me...my oh and ds take sarnies everyday and dd x2 and I buy a couple of joint of meat a month and slice thinly to last - if it runs out there is pnb or tuna!
Or what about pasta salads, soups, pizza slices etc as cheaper alternatives?People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

get some cotton wool and fill a margerine tub and sprinkle some mustard and cress seed on there and water gently for a few days on the windowledge ,delicious with mashed hard boiled eggs.Mashed hard-boiled eggs and mayo and a spoonful of mild curry powder is a tasy alternative as well in a sarnie0

I use sausages to make a suasage meatloaf type thing which is lovely hot with baked potato and salad or cold sliced on sandwiches. You take 10 sausages out of the skins and then mix with a finely chopped onion, a grated apple, some dried sage, salt and pepper, an egg and about 3 slices of bread grated into breadcrumbs - then you mix the onion, apple bread, egg and a little water and mix in the sausagement. Cook in a loaf tin for about an hour until brown on top.Jane

I have NEVER made toad in the hole , yes have flours and egg
thanks
Yorkshire pudding is very easy.
Think volume.
For four people I'd probably use four eggs - maybe 5 if they're hungry
Break the eggs into a bowl. Whisk up a bit. Add salt and pepper.
Measure out the same volume of plain flour.
Measure out the same volumeof milk.
Mix it all together, whisk well.
Add to a very hot pan, with a little oil (smoking hot) and cook at a high heat for at least 30 mins.
Think volume and you cant go wrong0 -

I will NOT buy food except , veg, potatoes, bread and cleaning products.
Off now to sort cleaning products to see what I have.
Hello, I am interested to know what cleaning products you buy, because a lot of them are totally unnecessary. They are invented purely to generate more sales for the company, we never needed them untill we saw them on the supermarket shelf.
When I am shopping I don't even go down the cleaning aisle because it makes me angry. The products are designed to make us feel guilty if we do not scrub everything in our house squeaky clean.
I have one bottle of cheap bleach for the lavvy, and everything else gets cleaned with diluted wash up liquid in a squirty bottle. It works for me.
