I agree that their customer service is really terrible. My hubby is the main account holder and although he added a password and my details to th account so that I can access it too and make changes (as I am the MSExpert!!) every time I call they are such a waste of my time coming up with any excuse not to give me access to the account. Funny that they did not have a problem veryfying my id when they wanted to upgrade me to Sky movies for the Xmas period AND for switching to their broadband!! whch I did with no problem
I called yesterday to try and get a cheapy SKY + upgrade (so if anyone can refer me I would be grateful) and they asked me account holder name, my name, DOB, full address, passowrd, phone number AND mother maidens name. Gave all correct info and they said AS USUAL sorry you cant access this account as you have provided a wrong information so when I asked which one (as I might have miheard or mispronounced or gave mu huby mother maiden name ins taed of mine???) and she said she could not tell me which one was incorrect!!!!! AARG asked to speak to a supervisor and after being on a 12 minutes phonecall to 0870 she put me on hold or she purposely put the phone down on me!!! sorry for this rant but they are so incompetent !! :mad:0 -
I have heard mixed reports about its performance. I have been told that there are two boxes with different storage space on them. If this is true which would be best/cheapest?
Is there anyone yet thinking about joining, it is my mission to get my partner one of these before christmas and make that free!! True MSE style! It is better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt!0 -
There are 3 Sky boxes but if you sign up now you will get the PVR3 with 80GB hard drive which records about 40 hours, there are 3 manufactures of these box Pace, Thomson and Amstrad , Pace make the best boxes but you get no choice in what one you get its up to the installer0

As your box broke after a year and was no longer under warranty it's not surprising you were charged for a replacement. If your freeview box breaks out of warranty I'd be very surprised if you got a free replacement for that.
I'm not saying every sky + customer is the same, nor does everyone have the same experiences. I'm sure for some its amazing. I really loved it when i had it, series linking all the best shows and watching them whenever i wanted, but it is prone to a lot of problems, and when this does break down, Sky are the most unhelpful people to fix it. they certainly have no customer relations training. Its just a shame that theres nothing out there that can rival sky's dominance of the market, which leads them to think that as they are the only ones with this much choice etc, then they can treat their customers as they see fit.
And as for your last post OP, i remember there was something out recently called sky + 160 or something random like that with more storage, but i think they may have ditched that idea and added it to their HD package instead but you'll have to check. And you can probably chose whichever box you want, we did when we took it out, and got the best looking one! Theres bound to be an offer on here somewhere for it on the cheap, but why dont you wait till they're offering free set top boxes and the half price subscription. It's bound to happen soon after Christmas, seems sill to waste money on the set now!0 -

sky+ is the greatest invention ever. i've been with sky since 2000 and have never had a problem with any of the equipment, the customer service or anything else.
they even lower my subscription price every year without me asking, i love it. tried cable, very poor in comparison.
if anyone wants referring for 1/2 price sky+, get in touch and i'll do it for you0
