Car Hire deposit

Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can offer me some advice.
I'm going on a Sun holiday to France in June. I've been looking at hiring a people carrier for all of us to travel in.
The hire companies seem to want between £600 & £1000 deposit when you collect the car.
Does anybody know of any hire companies that do not require sucha big deposit. Or preferably no deposit at all. I don't mind paying a littlw extra for the rental. It's just that authorising a big deposit on my credit card would not leave me much room in case of an emergency.

I didn't need to place a deposit with Hertz in the UK although I had purchased their Super Cover @ £12 a day to waive the excess.0

i think the deposit is high due to you taking it out of the UK..Sealed pot challenger # 10

They all require a deposit to cover the insurance excess, The lower the excess the less you will need. But as mentioned
taking it out of the country may not help.
Dont risk telling lies about taking it abroad though. Your journey may end at the port. I used to know a guy that ran a van
hire company. He stopped his vehicles being taken abroad after customs held onto one. They didnt give any info but said
your vans here and you must collect it if you want it back.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The goons at Customs no doubt impounded the van after they found excess ciggies in the back. But when they check with DVLA and find it's a hire car that they can't seize, they give up. That's why most ciggie importers use hire cars. Did the hire firm have to pay a Customs release fee? Around £120 for each day they hold it.
